A former Pentecostal Church youth pastor has been charged with sexual exploitation of a teenager.
Westshore RCMP on southern Vancouver Island say they began their investigation last month when a mother alleged her daughter had been involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with her pastor.
The relationship is alleged to have started in July 2007 when the teen was 16 years old and the pastor was 28.
Ira Parmenter, who was a youth pastor at the Colwood, B.C., Pentecostal Church between 2003 and 2009, was no longer working as a pastor when he was arrested in Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L., last week.
He's been released on his own recognizance with a promise to appear in B.C. provincial court June 21.
Police say they haven't received any similar reports related to the man, but are encouraging anyone who had information on to similar circumstances to speak to investigators.
