The B.C. River Forecast Centre is upgrading its flood advisory for the upper Fraser River to a flood warning, affecting the Prince George region and areas upstream.

The centre also issued a flood watch for areas bordering the Fraser River from Quesnel to the Fraser Canyon, and a high streamflow advisory for the lower Fraser River area.

The Fraser River is expected to peak at Hope late in the week.

Centre officials say heavy rainfall over the Fraser River headwaters, along with the continual snow melt, are leading to an overall rise in the river all week.

The forecast centre is monitoring the conditions closely and will have updates as conditions change.
