The Tudor House Pub in Esquimalt, on Vancouver Island, was destroyed by a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out just before 2:30 a.m. PT.

There are no reported injuries but a neighbouring building was evacuated.

The Tudor House opened as a gathering place in 1904, but didn't start serving booze until the 1930s.

Esquimalt Road was closed as crews fought the fire, and police warned those heading to the CFB Esquimalt base to expect detours.
