Stadium is filled with homemade nachos, chicken wings and much more
As San Francisco gets set to host the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos for the 50th Super Bowl, kitchens across the nation are preparing to host game day feasts.
In preparation for the big event, chef Dino Renaerts of the Bon Vivant Group has created an edible Super Bowl Stadium full of game day indulgences.
The stadium took Renaerts and his team of culinary leaders eight hours to construct. It is made from Styrofoam, cardboard and fabric and replicates Levi's Stadium where the event is set to kick off on Feb. 7.
Inside, the stands are filled with popular bar snacks including homemade nachos, chicken wings, sliders and other delicious appetizers.
But if taking a full day to put together your game day snacks is out of your reach, Renaerts suggests more simple recipes.
Super Bowl Sunday is considered an unofficial holiday for many. According to a report by Reuters, last year the championship game brought in over 160 million viewers worldwide — and that means big business for the food industry.
According to the Snack Food Association, millions of pounds of crowd-pleasing foods get consumed on game day:
- 1.25 billion chicken wings
- 3.8 million pounds of popcorn
- 150 million pounds of avocado
- 11.2 million pounds of potato chips
- 10 million pounds of ribs
