Vancouver police are releasing a composite sketch of a man accused of sexually assaulting a 57-year-old woman on Monday night.

Const. Brian Montague says the woman was walking along East 29th Avenue towards Rupert Street at about 8:40 p.m. PT when the man approached her from behind and groped her.

The woman tried to escape to a nearby home, Montague says, but the man attacked her again until he "abruptly stopped" and ran away.

The suspect is described as:

  • 40 to 50-years-old.
  • White.
  • Between five-foot-ten inches and six-feet tall.
  • 170 pounds.
  • Short grey hair and small eyes.
  • Wearing a dark hoodie, jeans and white runners at the time of the attack.

Montague said the woman was treated for her injuries in hospital and has since been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-0601.
