East Vancouver hotel shooting leaves one man wounded
A man was shot in the arm inside a Vancouver hotel room early Friday morning, after someone fired a gun at the window of the second-storey suite from a car in the rear alley.
Vancouver Police Insp. Bob Chapman said police units were dispatched after several people called 911 just after 2:30 a.m. PT to say they heard gunshots behind the Cassandra Hotel on Kingsway east of Rupert Street.
"One unit went to the rear of the hotel here, and observed a window on the second floor had been broken, saw shell casings in the lane. Units attended the hotel, went into the suite and found that one man had been shot in the arm," said Chapman.
About six people had been drinking inside the suite at the time of the shooting. When police arrived, one man barred himself inside the room for a short time, said Chapman.
That man has been taken in for questioning and the wounded man is in hospital, said police. They are no suspects in the shooting.
