Woman hit by 2 cars dies in East Vancouver
The drivers remained on scene and are cooperating, say Vancouver Police
Vancouver Police are investigating the city's third pedestrian fatality of 2016 after a woman was hit by two cars Tuesday night in East Vancouver.
"A 51 year old woman was crossing East 41st Ave in area of Kerr Street mid-block when she was hit by an eastbound vehicle," said Sgt. Randy Fincham of the VPD. "Unfortunately after being hit by the eastbound vehicle she was pushed into the westbound lane where she was also struck by a car. She was pronounced deceased at the scene."
The drivers of both cars remained on scene and are cooperating with police.
"It does appear that the location of the woman crossing mid-block ... possibly did lead up to the collision," said Fincham. "It was 9:30 last night. It was fairly dark in that area."
Fincham says the Police Collision Investigation Unit was called to the scene, and closed off East 41st Avenue from Rupert Street to Kingsway for close to 3 hours.
