An arctic high-pressure system will keep B.C. skies mainly sunny and temperatures cool through the weekend, says CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe.

Afternoon highs will be around 5 C or 6 C with overnight lows below 0 C. That means Thursday's light snow on the local mountains will stick around in the cold air for the week ahead.

We may see some patchy fog develop through the overnights, along with the risk for some light rain or snow Saturday and Sunday night. No major snow accumulations are expected at this point.

The current weather pattern holds through next week for another dry and cold stretch.
