A man in his 20s is dead after a drive-by shooting in Abbotsford Sunday afternoon.

Abbotsford police Const. Ian Macdonald said the man was alive with serious wounds immediately after the shooting, but died 45 minutes later in hospital.

The shooting happened near the intersection of South Fraser Way and Emerson Street at around 5:15 p.m. PT.

Witnesses told police that they saw shots being fired from one vehicle into another — a dark-coloured sedan.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case, Macdonald said.
