For the third year, The Chefs' Table Society of B.C. is hosting the Curry Cup to see which local chef can come up with the best original dish.

Eight chefs from restaurants including Burdock & Co. and Torafuku will create signature curry dishes at the competition on March 7, held at Vancouver's Heritage Hall on Main Street.

Andrea Carlson of Burdock & Co. showed her skills on the set of Our Vancouver, whipping up a vegan curry with coconut milk and cashews and carrot for guest host (and vegetarian) Jason D'Souza.

"It takes patience to let the onions and garlic cook properly while cooking a great curry," she said.

"It's a real challenge to do well."

Carlson said the competition at the Curry Cup will be stiff, considering the top talent expected at the event.

There will be all forms of curry dishes from laksa to meat and fish and no shortage of vegetables.

Money from the event will go to Growing Chefs — a program that gets B.C. school children excited about cooking.

In the video above Carlson shows guest host Jason D'Souza how to make a delicious curry.
