Coquitlam woman found dead in possible homicide
Homicide investigators were called to the Westwood Plateau area Sunday afternoon
A man is in custody after a woman's body was discovered in a Coquitlam, B.C., townhouse Sunday afternoon.
BC Ambulance and the Coquitlam Fire Department were called to a residence on the 2900 block of Panorama Drive around 3 p.m. PT after receiving reports of someone in medical distress. Upon arrival, they found a woman inside already deceased.
Sgt. Adam MacIntosh, with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, says a man in his 20s is in police custody and the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
"We're in the very early stages of the investigation. We're trying to find out exactly what happened and what role, if any, this person played in this homicide," he said.
"They are known to each other, but weren't in a domestic relationship."
MacIntosh said the woman was in her early 30s, and police are in the process of identifying who she was, how and why she died.
No charges have been laid.
