The Coquihalla highway reopened after scheduled helicopter avalanche control earlier today.

Highway 5 was closed between 9 a.m., PT and 1 p.m., PT Tuesday while crews blasted, to ensure a natural avalanche does not happen on the highway.

The Coquihalla has been closed at intervals in the last week due to a combination of avalanches, high avalanche risk, and scheduled avalanche control.
