A heavy snowfall warning has been issued for B.C.'s Coquihalla Highway and the Fraser Canyon on Tuesday.

Environment Canada says 20 to 25 centimetres of snow is expected to fall on the Coquihalla Highway 5 between Merritt and Hope, starting Tuesday morning, with the heaviest snow falling by evening.

Ten to 20 centimetres of snow is forecast to fall on the Trans-Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon on Tuesday as well.

The snowfall is forecast to end by Wednesday morning.

Drivers are advised to be prepared for winter driving conditions and possible delays. Winter tires or chains are required on both routes at this time of year.
