Vancouver police are seeking the public's help in finding an Ontario man they say might be bilking seniors in the Lower Mainland.
Richard Earl Rupert is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant issued by Toronto authorities, and Winnipeg police also want to interview him regarding frauds committed earlier this summer, Const. Jana McGuinness said Thursday.
Rupert, 54, is wanted in connection with an Aug. 3 incident at a seniors centre in Vancouver's West End, McGuinness said.
A man posing as a building manager persuaded an elderly man to give him $100 for what the fraudster said was overdue rent.
Rupert has a record of convictions for fraud involving senior citizens, McGuinness said.
Rupert has posed as building staff or a distant relative requesting money for rent, car repairs or a stranded relative, McGuinness said.
