An embarrassing problem for Metro Vancouver's transportation authority has finally been fixed.

The escalator at Commercial Drive and Broadway station — the busiest in the SkyTrain system, and one of the longest — is finally working again. It broke down in March and was back in service Wednesday after a nine-month delay.

As CBC's Steve Lus explains, the reasons for the lengthy repair are many, including what TransLink calls the escalator’s “unique size.”
