Child stabbed in Prince George, B.C.
Young offender who is known to the victim has been arrested
A child is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in a rural community outside of Prince George, B.C.
Officers were dispatched to Shelley, east of Prince George, just before 8 a.m. PT Friday following reports a child had been stabbed outside a home.
"On arrival, police and paramedics located a child suffering from what appears to be stab wounds," said RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass.
"The child was transported by the B.C. Ambulance Service to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. with serious injuries."
A spokesperson for Diversified Transport said one of their bus drivers found the injured child on the side of the road and called police.
The child is expected to recover.
Douglass said a young person who is known to the victim has been arrested.
RCMP said no further details will be made available because the suspect is a young offender.
