Metro Vancouver's Canada Line was shut down briefly by a power outage in Richmond on Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. PT, stranding thousands of passengers during the morning commute.

The service was restored by 8 a.m. but commuters are advised to expect extra-long waits getting out of Richmond and the airport because of the shutdown.

The brief shutdown comes after the region's SkyTrain system was hit by two system-wide shutdowns caused by power outages in recent days.
