Burnaby's Brentwood mall re-opens after evacuation
The evacuation of Burnaby's Brentwood Town Centre mall on Tuesday afternoon has ended without incident, the RCMP have confirmed.
The mall was evacuated after an anonymous threat was called in, according to Cpl. David Reid with Burnaby RCMP.
The caller did not specify what may have been left in the mall, so officers and dog teams were dispatched to scour the mall and surrounding area.
"It's standard in any circumstance where we receive a call of this nature, we go through and do a complete search," said Reid.
"In concert with the Brentwood security and the Brentwood office facilities, they determined that the mall should be shut down in this particular instance," Reid added.
The search turned up nothing unusual and the mall was reopened just before 4 p.m.
