Boy, 11, safe after going missing in Surrey Saturday
- Surrey RCMP confirmed just after 7:30 p.m. the missing boy has been found, and is home
Surrey RCMP says an 11-year-old boy who went missing near the Strawberry Hill area in Surrey and the Sunshine Hills neighbourhood in Delta, B.C., has been found and is now home.
The boy had last been seen at 10:50 a.m. PT Saturday morning near 68th Avenue and 120th Street.
Surrey Search and Rescue responded quickly to the police force's request for help, and conducted ground searches well into the evening, until the boy was confirmed to be safe.
Surrey RCMP said the boy returned home on his own just after 7 p.m. He was cold, but in "good condition," police said.
In a written statement, the force thanked the search and rescue volunteers as well as members of the public who kept their eyes peeled and called in tips and possible sightings, which helped police focus the search.
"Through the combined efforts of everyone, this event came to positive conclusion," Surrey RCMP said in a written statement.
