The body of a 56-year-old kayaker who went missing near Sooke, B.C. on June 18 has been discovered at the Clallam County shoreline in Washington State.

The Clallam County coroner has identified the kayaker as Lin "Michael" Wang. His body was found July 3.

Wang had set out for a paddle in Beecher Bay on the morning of June 18. His vehicle was found at Beecher Bay in East Sooke on June 19, after he had been reported overdue.

A full-scale search was launched covering a 1,000-square kilometre area of the Juan de Fuca Strait, from Sooke to Victoria.

A red kayak, similar to the one Wang was paddling, was found relatively quickly, but there was no sign of him until last week.
