Transit Police have arrested a suspected bank robber, caught leaving a SkyTrain station with a sack of cash.

The man was arrested at Olympic Village station on Saturday morning, just hours after the Vancouver Police Department put out an alert that the TD Bank at Georgia and Howe had been robbed.

Transit Police said they identified the man based on a suspect description provided by the VPD, and took him into custody.

"The suspect was carrying a duffle bag containing a quantity of cash and a large knife," they said in a statement.

Charges are pending.
