Only federal approval stands between a Sunshine Coast First Nation and its land claims settlement.

The provincial government has now signed the agreement which provides the Tla'amin First Nation with nearly $30 million, as well as roughly $7 million for economic development.

The Powell River-area band will also take control of more than 8,000 hectares of land.

The Tla'amin approved the deal in a tense vote last summer and Aboriginal Relations Minister Ida Chong says nine B.C. First Nations have signed treaties over the last 13 years.
