Avalanche danger has been elevated to extreme this weekend across much of the province.

The Canadian Avalanche Centre says naturally and human-triggered avalanches are certain in many areas including the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, Whistler mountain and the North and South Columbia mountains.

Backcountry enthusiasts are warned to stay off mountain trails.

So far this season, three people have died in avalanches. March is normally the deadliest month on the mountains.
