Armed robber targeting Coquitlam corner stores
Tall, slim man with black handgun identified as suspect in series of robberies
Police are warning workers in Coquitlam convenience stores about a man with a handgun who has begun robbing small businesses in the area.
RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung says a number of similar-sounding robberies have been reported to police beginning in mid-April.
In each incident, a tall and slim man walks in and demands money from the cashier. In some cases, the robber shows the cashier a black handgun.
"This is all the information we are able to share at this point," Chung said in a written statement.
"We are urging those who work at corner store-typed small businesses to be extra vigilant and to call 911 if you see anything suspicious."
Police say the suspect may also have committed similar robberies in the surrounding area.
