The deaths of two women found in a Surrey residence May 1 have been deemed a murder-suicide by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

The deaths of two women found in a Surrey, B.C. residence May 1 have been deemed a murder-suicide by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

According to IHIT, 83-year-old Anne Shochuk was killed by her daughter, 61-year-old Kathleen Maximuik, who then took her own life.

Neighbours said the two women had not been seen for at least two weeks before their bodies were discovered in the residence in the 13600 block of 111A Avenue.

"IHIT and the Surrey RCMP continue to work with both the B.C. coroner's office and the family with regard to the loss of both Anne and Kathleen," Sgt. Adam MacIntosh said in a statement.
