Canada Border Services agents discovered four kilograms of heroin hidden in two suitcases belonging to a man who arrived in Vancouver on a flight from India during the Olympics.

Agents who interviewed the man, 38, after his arrival Feb. 22 sent his bags for secondary inspection at Vancouver airport. The narcotics were found in hidden compartments in the luggage, RCMP said in a release Tuesday.

The man arrived at the airport amid heavy passenger traffic associated with the Olympics.

The man, a Canadian citizen whom police have not identified, faces numerous drug-related charges and has been released on a promise to return to court in June.

Police did not reveal why the announcement of his arrest was delayed for two weeks.
