One person is dead after a fatal collision on Highway 7 in Agassiz, B.C.

The crash happened just after midnight, just west of Seabird Island Road.

A large truck loaded with lumber was driving westbound on the highway, when it collided with two eastbound vehicles, killing one of the passengers in one of those cars.

"What we understand right now, is that one of the personal vehicles was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes," said Cnst. Jim Halliday of Fraser Valley Traffic Services.

"This scene is quite extensive."

Halliday did not comment on the cause of the crash, but said the driver of the truck was cooperative with police.

It's not yet clear how many other occupants were in each of the vehicles involved.

Police closed down Highway 7 near Seabird Island Road all morning as crews continued the cleanup and investigation.
