Abbotsford home surrounded by police after early morning shooting
One man taken to hospital after shooting at 3 a.m. PT in Clearbrook area
For much of the day, police in Abbotsford, B.C., surrounded a home that is believed to have a connection to a shooting that wounded a man early Saturday morning.
Const. Paul Walker said that at around 3 a.m. PT, officers received a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Beaver Street in the Clearbrook area. One man was found wounded, and he was taken to hospital.
Police then began attempting to make contact with a person or persons who may be inside a home that is believed to be associated with the shooting.
"It's a home that has two separate residences in it. The upstairshas its own residence and there's a basement suite as well," Walker said Saturday morning. "The upstairs has been evacuated and we're still trying to make contact with anyone that would be remaining in the basement of this house."
Walker said just after noon that no contact has been made with anyone who might be in the suite.
As of 1 p.m. PT, Beaver Street remained closed from Peardonville Road to Emerald Street.
Hours later, at 5:30 p.m. PT, police gained entry and secured the scene.
"No further occupants were located in the home," Walker said.
The investigation has been turned over to the Abbotsford Major Crimes Unit.
