Three teenage boys have turned themselves in to Abbotsford police following a hit-and-run accident that left a 17-year-old girl with two broken legs, police said.
The girl was left lying on the road after she was run over by a white pick-up truck. She had come out to investigate why the occupants in the car were throwing eggs at teens sitting at a bus stop early Saturday morning.
The girl was run over when the driver accelerated as she approached the truck, said Cst. Ian MacDonald of the Abbotsford Police Department.
The boys showed up at the police station on Saturday evening, accompanied by their parents, MacDonald said.
Police are recommending assault charges against two boys who were passengers in the truck.
A charge of hit-and-run causing bodily harm is also being recommended against the driver.
The Dodge pickup truck involved in the collision has been seized, MacDonald said.
Abbotsford police have started to collect forensic and video evidence in connection with this incident.
