85-year-old woman dead after Coquitlam hit-and-run
Woman struck Tuesday afternoon a block from where an elderly couple was hit and killed in November
An 85-year-old woman is dead after another hit-and-run incident in Coquitlam. The woman was struck by a vehicle at around two o'clock this afternoon on Austin Avenue between Schoolhouse Street and Decaire Street, in the driveway of what police describe as a home-based business.
Coquitlam RCMP say the victim was subsequently rushed to hospital in critical condition, but passed away as a result of her injuries.
The incident occurred within a block of where an elderly couple was hit and killed by a vehicle back in November. The driver drove off in that case as well, but RCMP eventually made an arrest after a tip from the public.
RCMP are appealing to the public for help with Thursday's incident, asking any witnesses or people with information to call them at 604-945-1550, quoting file number 2014-1438.
