A woman known as Baby Hitler in recruiting circles of the racist Ku Klux Klan has been denied bail in a New Brunswick court.

Donna Marie Upson turned up at a homeless shelter in Moncton and requested a bed for the night in early June.

She was refused, and then police say she was later spotted trying to start a fire on an exterior wall of the shelter.

In May, Upson was released from a Nova Scotia prison after she promised to keep the peace and return to appear in court on a pair of assault charges and one charge of failing to appear in court.

Originally from Toronto, Upson was once convicted of threatening to kill a black church minister in Dartmouth.
