Abuse trial opens in Gjoa Haven
The trial for Gjoa Haven resident Ben Kogvik is underway in Cambridge Bay. He faces 15 sex-related charges.
He's accused of touching young female students in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a teacher in Gjoa Haven.
The crown says it will be calling 20 witnesses during the trial, including 14 of the complainants.
This morning two of the complainants, now adults, gave their testimony.
One woman cried as she described how Kogvik touched the crotch of her jeans while she was in his classroom about 25 years ago. The other woman testified he did the same to her.
The trial will continue Friday morning.
