$1 million payout to Hamilton for slots

Hamilton's fourth quarter payment from OLG hits $1 million

Hamilton gota  a $1 million payday from Flamboro Downs this week.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has issued Hamilton a fourth-quarter (January to March 2013) payment of just over $1 million for hosting OLG slots at Flamboro Downs.

"OLG gaming sites provide numerous benefits for host communities across the province," said Ted McMeekin, MPP for Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale, in a press release. "In addition to job creation and increased tourism, the gaming revenue payments allow municipalities to make significant investments in local priorities to benefit Ontario families."

The $1 million from last quarter is in addition to the more than $55.4 million Hamilton has already received in non-tax gaming revenue.

The OLG modernization, as announced in March of last year, is an strategy it want to take sellling it as a way to  increase revenue for the provinceand to create jobs. It also argues it provides support for  nmunicipalities through a consistent funding model for cities that host an OLG gaming facility.
