The Rimac Concept_One, considered one of the world’s most expensive electric cars, is set for its public debut this year, at a high-end car event in London, England.
Created by the Croatian company Rimac Automobili, the super car is expected to have a price tag of $1 million US and will be featured at the Salon Privé in September. Only 88 cars are slated for production in 2012, to be delivered in 2013.
Although it has already been displayed this year at other industry car shows, this will mark the first time it will be seen at a show for the public.
The extreme vehicle, made by a Croatian company, features an interactive console display. (Rimac Automobili)The extreme vehicle can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, landing at a top speed of 305 km/h. The company has said it was also capable of hitting 500 km/h but had to trim back because it couldn’t guarantee passenger safety at that speed.
Made of carbon fibre, the car comes with front and side air bags as well as a safety disconnection of systems in case of a crash.
Created by a team of 20 engineers and designers, the Concept_One uses a 92-kWh battery, which fuels four sets of electric motors, and can go up to 600 kilometres on one charge.
In case you’re wondering what comes with the luxury price tag, the car has two side displays for the driver, an interactive console display, GPS navigation and stereo system.
The company also boasts the car has extremely high torque and coupled with special tires, it provides the driver with “superior road handling.”
The Concept_One is among a group of upper-end electric vehicles developed over the past few years. Others include the Audi’s R8 e-tron and the Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell – though neither comes near in price.
