CAE Inc. has sold two flight simulators worth $35 million to a Chinese client, the Montreal-based company announced Tuesday.
Flight simulator provider CAE has landed a new $35-million contract with a Chinese aircraft maker.
(Aaron Harris/Canadian Press) The flight training and technology firm said COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Customer Service Co. bought the two simulators to train flight crews on the ARJ21, the first passenger jet to be developed entirely in China. It is scheduled to enter service in 2011.
"We are building the ARJ21 to be the finest regional aircraft in the world, so we want the aircraft's pilots to train using the best simulators in the world," stated Xu Qinghong, Shanghai Aircraft's president.
The purchase announced Tuesday is in addition to the first ARJ21 full flight simulator, which COMAC ordered from CAE in 2006 and is expected to be ready for training in mid-2010.
CAE shares closed up 17 cents, or two per cent, at $8.86 Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
