Police guard Montreal financier's home for eviction

Police have set up watch at bankrupt financial adviser Earl Jones's Montreal condo after his alleged victims promised to show up to witness his court-ordered eviction Friday.
Jones faces several fraud charges after Quebec's securities regulator accused him of swindling his investors out of at least $30 million in a possible Ponzi scheme. Jones declared personal bankruptcy this summer.
Jones must vacate his property in the Pointe Claire neighbourhood by the end of the day.
Dozens of his alleged victims said they would be there to watch Jones vacate his luxurious waterfront home. Police said they are on hand in case the crowd gets rowdy.
Bailiffs are expected to show up at the West Island condo on Lakeshore Drive to change the locks.
Several of Jones's alleged victims have been patrolling the neighbourhood for the past week to keep an eye on him. Kevin Curran, whose 77-year-old mother lost about $300,000 in investments, said he expected about 20 of Jones's alleged victims to be on hand Friday afternoon.
