Chrysler Canada's 3,500 workers at its minivan plant in Windsor, Ont., are back on the job Monday following a two-month halt in production during the Chrysler bankruptcy proceedings in the U.S.

The day and afternoon shifts report back to work Monday, while the plant's third shift returns on July 27.

CAW Local 444 president Rick Laporte says it's a "fresh start" at Chrysler and a relief to have the plant running again.

The minivan facility will be on shutdown for the summer vacation period the weeks of July 13 and July 20.

The company shut down manufacturing operations on May 4, shortly after filing for bankruptcy protection on April 30.

Chrysler also planned to resume making vehicles at its Brampton, Ont., plant and five U.S. factories by the end of June.
