Printing company Quebecor World said Thursday it will cut 670 jobs as it closes one U.S. plant and cuts back at a plant in Toronto.

The firm, which is operating under creditor protection, said it will close its facility in North Haven, Conn., which produces general commercial printed material, in the second quarter of this year.

The company's Islington plant in Toronto will lose 320 jobs at the end of June, leaving it with just 60 full-time employees. The facility currently produces retail flyers, catalogues and it binds directories. Only the binding work will continue at the plant.

About 350 jobs will be lost when it closes its Connecticut facility.

The company has been under financial pressure for months. It went into court-ordered protection from its creditors in January.

Earlier this week, the company reported a full-year loss of $2.2 billion US, mainly due to a big fourth-quarter writedown of goodwill.
