N.B. company wins $2M contract to help build Yankees' stadium

A company in Tracadie-Sheila, N.B., has won a contract to help build the new $800 million New York Yankees stadium.
Serge Theriault, senior engineer with MQM Enterprises, said the $2-million contract to build the steel structures that will hold up stands in the stadium has been a home run for the company's profile.
"I mean, the Yankees are an icon and to do a job for the Yankees is quite an honour," Theriault said. "Quality is very high. They are tough and stringent on quality requirements for this project and we're proud we can deliver."
Sixty employees from the small north shore company work on the contract.
The 53,000-seat New Yankee Stadium, which is being built near the original Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, is expected to be completed in time for opening day in 2009.
MQM has previously completed contracts on Citi Field, the New York Mets' $600-million stadium in Flushing, N.Y., which is also scheduled to open in 2009, and the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
"We've done some good-sized buildings or complicated stuff but this is by far the biggest project," Theriault said.
