TSX Group and Thomson Financial have formed an alliance to offer specialized market data and analysis to the financial markets.

On Tuesday, the companies officially launched TSXconnect, a web-based version of Thomson ONE that has been customized for companies listed on the TSX and the TSX Venture Exchanges.

TSXconnect will provide financial data on a single platform for the use of investor relations officers who work at every exchange-listed company. It will be available to all TSX-listed companies free of charge.

"The platform enables [investor relations officers] to monitor the performance and trading activity of their stock and that of their peers and identify current shareholders," the companies said in a joint statement.

"In addition, they can monitor earnings and research domestic and international trading instruments."

Under the terms of the alliance, Thomson Financial also becomes the content provider and sponsor for all market data at the TSX Broadcast Centre in downtown Toronto.

Many news media organizations, including CBC Newsworld, have reporters stationed at the TSX Broadcast Centre.

The financial terms of the TSX Group-Thomson Financial agreement were not released.

Shares of TSX Group fell 46 cents, finishing at $46.00 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
