The design will be based on Bombardier trams already in use in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt Transport will take delivery of the vehicles between May 2008 and 2015. They will be designed and manufactured at Bombardier plants in Germany.

The trains can drive in either direction on tracks which are usually separate from traffic to allow faster operation.

Bombardier stock closed up a penny at $2.86 in TSX trading.
