Contrary to published reports, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada will not be hiring former Canadian Olympic women's hockey coach Danielle Sauvageau.
According to a report in Montreal's La Presse Friday, sources revealed that Sauvageau was hired as a television analyst for the English and French versions of Hockey Night in Canada.
"There is absolutely no truth to that," said Joel Darling, executive producer of Hockey Night in Canada.
Darling said he didn't know if Sauvageau was talking with Le Soiree du Hockey, HNIC's French counterpart.
Sauvageau, a 40-year-old native of Deux-Montagnes, Que., led the Canadian women's hockey team to the gold medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and was a member of the national team's coaching staff for the past seven world championships.
She resigned as head coach last month to become a spokeswoman with the Coaching Association of Canada.
