Beginning April 1, some 40,000 Canadians will be purchasing their medical marijuana from licensed commercial producers.

So far, Health Canada has licensed 12 companies to produce marijuana for health uses, among them Bedrocan Canada, a unit of Netherlands-based Bedrocan BV.

Bedrocan NV is the sole supplier of medical marijuana in the Netherlands and helped get cannabis covered by drug insurance programs in that country.

In an interview with CBC’s The Lang & O’Leary Exchange, Bedrocan Canada CEO Marc Wayne outlines his plans for the business in Canada.
