MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. said Thursday it has signed an $81-million contract with the Canadian Space Agency.

The deal, which runs until December 2015, covers engineering and operational support for the robotic elements on the International Space Station.

The company is the prime contractor to the Canadian Space Agency for the mobile servicing system on the space station including Canadarm2, Dextre, and the mobile base system.

MDA, best-known as the maker of the robotic arms used on the space station and the now-retired U.S. space shuttles, supplies technology to a variety of businesses that use satellites to collect information from space.
