October 2 - American Media Inc. employee, Robert Stevens, is hospitalized with inhalation anthrax.
Oct 5 - Robert Stevens dies.
Oct 8 - Officials reveal second American Media Inc. employee Ernest Blanco, 73, has tested positive for anthrax infection.
Oct 12 - NBC anchor Tom Brokaw’s assistant Erin O’Connor revealed to have had exposure to anthrax. New York City woman contracts exposure to anthrax opening mail.
Oct 13 - Five American Media Inc. employees test positive for exposure to anthrax.
Oct 15 - Letter to U.S. Senator Thomas Daschle, containing the anthrax virus, opened. Infant son of a ABC news producer contracted the skin form of anthrax. Letter was opened on September 25th. Ernesto Blanco of American Media Inc. revealed to have skin anthrax.
Oct 17 - Anthrax revealed to be present in Governor George Pataki’s office. More than 30 people at Capitol Hill test positive for exposure to anthrax.
Oct 18 - CBS News anchor Dan Rather’s assistant and a postal worker handled mail containing the anthrax virus.
A Hamilton Township, New Jersey, postal worker tested positive for cutaneous anthrax.
Ottawa announces plans to spend almost $12 million to fight bio-terrorism.
Oct 19 - A second New Jersey postal worker tested positive for skin anthrax on October 19.
Oct 20 - Two postal employees in Washington die from inhalation anthrax.
Oct. 22 - A third postal worker in Washington tested positive for inhalation anthrax.
Oct. 23 - Anthrax found in off-site White House mail centre.
Oct. 24 - Six Washington D.C. postal workers hospitalized for suspected anthrax.
Oct. 25 - Anthrax found in another part of the Hart Senate Office Building.
Oct. 31 - A hospital worker in New York died becoming the fourth fatality of inhaled anthrax since September 11.
