David Hasselhoff's reality television show has been cancelled after just two episodes due to disappointing ratings.

The short-lived A&E Network show, The Hassselhoffs, centred around the former Baywatch star as he helped his two daughters, Hayley, 17, and Taylor-Ann, 20, pursue show-business careers.

According to the Nielsen Co., the first episode, which premiered Dec. 5, was seen by 718,000 viewers. Viewers plummeted to 505,000 for the second installment, which aired on the same evening.

Another new A&E series, Storage Wars, opened Dec. 1 with 2.1 million viewers.

On Friday, A&E confirmed in a statement that it had taken The Hasselhoffs off the air, but it didn't rule out running the other eight completed half-hour episodes at a later date.

Hasselhoff, 58, hasn't had much luck performing in reality shows. The American actor and former America's Got Talent judge was the first contestant, along with his partner Kym Johnson, to be voted off the recent season of Dancing With the Stars.

Nevertheless, he's reported to be in talks to replace Simon Cowell as a judge on Britain's Got Talent.
