Sharon Osbourne, seen here with rocker husband Ozzy in 2008, will be one of the hosts of the as-yet-unnamed daytime talk show. (Getty Images)ABC's The View will get some talk show competition this fall with CBS to launch a new daytime program hosted by Sharon Osbourne and five other celebrity moms.
With As the World Turns to conclude its half-century-long run in September, CBS has decided to fill the long-running soap's hour-long slot with a new, as-yet-untitled talk show.
All six women have children and the new show is "a familiar form, but with big personalities and a distinct point of view coming through the lens of moms," according to CBS spokesman Chris Ender.
"It broadens our slate of daytime shows, and we think it has the potential to stand out and make some noise."
Joining Osbourne — the music manager, reality TV personality and regular TV talent competition judge — as host will be:
- Actress Holly Robinson Peete, most recently seen on Celebrity Apprentice.
- Actress Marissa Jaret Winokur, a Tony Award-winner for her starring role in Hairspray.
- Actress Leah Remini, whose credits include the defunct series The King of Queens and the movie comedy Old School.
- TV personality Julie Chen, best known as host of Big Brother and the wife of CBS CEO Leslie Moonves.
- Actress Sara Gilbert of TV sitcoms Roseanne and The Big Bang Theory.
Gilbert, who is also executive producer, developed the show, which will see the hosts explore entertainment and news stories.
A specific start date was not announced.
Founded by TV veteran Barbara Walters, ABC's morning talk show The View features Walters, comedian Joy Behar, designer Elisabeth Hasselbeck and actresses Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd discussing current topics.
It debuted in 1997 and won an Emmy Award for outstanding talk show in 2003.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
