Battle of the Blades earns Rose D'Or nomination

(CBC/Canadian Press)Seven Canadian television programs have earned nominations for Rose D'Or Awards, including CBC live event shows Battle of the Blades and Canada for Haiti.
The global prizes are awarded in conjunction with an annual television festival in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Battle of the Blades was the CBC show that challenged hockey players to take up figure skating.
It is nominated in the live events and variety category with Canada for Haiti, the star-studded Canadian fundraiser that followed the earthquake in Haiti.
Competing in the same category are TV coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, a Sharon Osbourne comedy roast and La Boheme at the Tower Block, produced in Switzerland.
Inside Hana's Suitcase, a documentary directed by Larry Weinstein and written by Thomas Wallner based on the best-selling children's book, earned two nominations, in the multi-platform and social platform categories.
Wallner's TV and interactive website production company Xenophile also earned a nomination for its work for Mi Hi Game: The Grand Mistress Mystery, created with BBC.
Other Canadian nominees:
- Living in Your Car, an HBO Canada comedy nominated in the drama and miniseries category.
- Manson, a docu-drama about Charles Manson, also nominated in the miniseries category.
British TV series earned a leading 48 nominations in the competition, the U.S. earned three, Germany got nine and the Netherlands got six. There are nominees from 22 countries.
The winning Golden Roses will be awarded Sept. 22 at the Rose D'Or festival in Lucerne.
