(Richard Cartwright/ABC/AP)Police procedurals, legal dramas, and a new supernatural series to replace the departing Lost are among the new additions slated for U.S. network ABC's new schedule, executives announced on Tuesday.

Former Friend Matthew Perry, Michael Imperioli of The Sopranos, The Shield 's Michael Chiklis and TV veteran Dana Delany are among the high-profile actors who've signed on for new series at ABC.

"We really had three goals going into development: attack 10 o'clock [slot], more comedy and event television," said Stephen McPherson, ABC Entertainment Group president.

"This schedule really speaks to it."

New programming includes:

  • Detroit 1-8-7, a homicide detective drama starring Imperioli.
  • The Whole Truth, a drama starring Rob Morrow and Joely Richardson as former law school classmates who become rival attorneys.
  • No Ordinary Family, starring Chiklis, about a family emerging from a plane crash with superpowers.
  • Body of Proof, starring Delany as a neurosurgeon turned medical examiner.
  • My Generation, a scripted series about a documentary crew that revisits a former Texas high school class 10 years after graduation.
  • Mr. Sunshine, a comedy starring Ottawa-raised Perry as the manager of a San Diego sports arena.
  • Better Together, a comedy following three couples at different stages of their lives and relationships.
  • Secret Millionaire, a reality series following wealthy individuals as they live and volunteer in impoverished neighbourhoods.

ABC suffered some strain last season, as past hits Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy began to sag. However, it found success with fledgling detective dramedy Castle and a hit trio of new comedies: Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town.

The aforementioned shows — along with V, Brothers and Sisters, Private Practice, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Dancing With the Stars — will return next season.

Medical comedy Scrubs, which moved over from NBC, and ambitious series FlashForward, based on the novel by Canadian science fiction author Robert J. Sawyer, are among the shows ABC has cancelled, along with Hank, Romantically Challenged and Better Off Ted.

U.S. networks NBC and Fox unveiled their new season details on Monday, with CBS the final major network remaining.
