(Max Nash/Associated Press) Daleks, Cybermen, masks, miniatures, costumes and other Doctor Who props — some dating as far back as the 1970s — went on auction Wednesday, with fans scooping up dozens of mementos from the iconic sci-fi series.

Many of the 163 lots fetched three to five times their pre-sale estimates at the packed Bonhams auction.

A battered Imperial MK 1 Dalek hailing from a 1985 episode was the evening's priciest lot, picked up for nearly $32,000 Cdn.

Other Daleks — the villanous alien race of robot-mutants that are Doctor Who's main enemy — also drew hefty, five-digit prices.

Die-hard fans were also eager to snatch up large Cyberman figures — depicting another cyborg alien race that regularly opposes the Time Lord. The maximum Cyberman lot reached about $15,000.

Several memorable outfits drew strong prices, from a black satin waitress frock and boots singer Kylie Minogue wore for her 2007 cameo (close to $5,000) to the designer dinner suit David Tennant — the 10th actor to portray the time-travelling title character — wore on the same Christmas special (nearly $8,000).

Other notable sales included a modified Range Rover used in the spin-off series Torchwood ($28,000) and a large mask of the evil entity the Malus (about $4,700).

Overall, the sale achieved about $395,000, with 100 per cent of the lots sold.

"This is a fantastic result proving what an iconic show Doctor Who is," Bonhams entertainment memorabilia specialist Stephanie Connell said in a statement.
